This authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurant serves its platters up family style, so dining here often becomes a communal experience. If you are in an adventurous mood, Abyssinian is a good choice for something hot and spicy and a little left of the norm. The creamy yellow walls, the East African textiles on display behind the bar, and the chilled-out Afro-pop on the stereo set the scene. The outdoor patio is good for people watching when the weather's nice.

Hi, Sorry I wasn't able to join you guys last night. Something came up at the last minute that I had to attend to and I wasn't near a computer to change my RSVP. Seems like there was still some room for others to attend though, so that's good. Hope everyone had a great time! Looking forward to future meetups!

I'm gonna bring a friend but there is no place, so we'll sit on some other table which is not a problem. Would love to meet some new people out there.

Hi! Just a few notes about tonight. Please make every effort to pay with cash, since this makes it easier for everyone (including the restaurant) to coordinate the bill. The reservations are under my name, Judy. If your plans changes, please give others an opportunity to participate by changing your RSVP to "No". Thanks - see you tonight!

We had an event here over a year ago and it is high time we had another one! Thanks, Judy! I ate there before and the food is delicious! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the weather is excellent so you have the option to eat outside.

Who attended?

    •  Interesting food. I would visit again to see what else is on the menu.
    •  Nice idea; Fun time
    •  The service was -- it has to be said -- a bit slow and spotty (but that wasn't a bad thing, since it let us have more time to visit and chat amongst ourselves). But the quality of the food was very good, and the company was fantastic.
    •  Nice atmosphere, owners were thoughtful, helpful, and very nice. Service was a bit slow, but it was only two people running a very crowded restaurant. The food was excellent (I was just looking at Ethiopian recipes on the internet this morning). Would definitely return!
    •  The food was excellent and so interesting!
