I was recently contacted by George Constance of Indonique Tea & Chai about having a "tea tasting" event. I love chai tea so I am all for it! They are a New Orleans based company which was forced to evacuate after Hurricane Katrina. They are now rebuilding in Hartford as a wholesale and internet based company. Their website is www.indoniue.com
George has offered to set up a fun tea tasting at Sweet Harmony in Middletown. He will talk with us about tea history, origins, culture, etc. I've checked out some reviews and they are all favorable for Sweet Harmony. They have full meals, pastries, and desserts. So let's sit and enjoy some deliciously prepared morsels, dessert and tea!

Thanks to John K who reminded me about this restaurant, we are scheduling an event at Ginza! I missed the last time we ate here and have heard only good things about it. Check out their website http://www.ginzacuisine.com/. The prices are right and I am always in the mood to enjoy some sushi!
I have a feeling that this event might fill up so please be mindful of your RSVPs. Try to bring cash since this helps when settling the bill.

The reservation is under Kelly and we will be sitting at the hibatchi table! Yeah!

This is a SUGGESTION, not a meetup, but I am going there for my dinner. If ayone wants to join me from 6:00-7:00 or so, please EMAIL me (betsydecormier@yahoo.com) $12.95 take-out or eat-in. Do not need to join me, you can go on your own anytime 5:00 - 8:00. No reservation required. BYOB

This restaurant is SMALL and may not have any available seats. If this happens I will take mine to go back to my house (not far from restaurant) and anyone meeting me is welcome to come also. We can go out for drinks or dessert and coffee afterwards.

Again, please do not expect to meet me there unless you EMAIL me first! - Betsy

You can go to the 'other one'. You know, the churrascaria in West Hartford that gives you a little light you turn over to red when you want them to walk by and slice off a tiny piece of meat. They're also the ones that charge you an arm and leg when you walk out too. But if you're looking for the 'real deal', you'll love Brazil Grill. Here's how it works: Walk in and grab a plate. To your left are your sides which change daily: rice, beans, polenta, collard greens, squash, yucca floured squash, fried potatoes, codfish casserole, fried bananas, okra, etc. Once you've piled on a little bit of everything, you walk to the fire pit and order your meat. The 'pit master' (I'm sure there's a real word for his position, but I don't know it) piles on as much lamb, sirloin, chicken wrapped in bacon, chicken hearts, wings, and chicken sausage, pork loin, beef ribs, as you want. Just tell him how you like it - rare, medium, or well done. By this time, your dish is pretty full and you're ready to weigh it. The total? $7.00 - $8.00 for a supersized plate. Take your receipt, but don't pay yet, because you'll want to go back for some flan, rice pudding, corn pudding, coconut pudding with plum, or passion fruit mousse.

The reservation is FRIDAY NOV 16TH! Please change your RSVP if you can not come!

Brand new Restaurant opened Oct 25th. Upscale Bar and Grille offering "comfort Foods" is run by previous associates of Bomboleo and is already getting rave reviews. A little pricey, but worth it. Casual or dressy as you prefer. 900 Main St in Hartford - Parking is on-street, or the $8.00 lot, or $7.00 Valet.

Some highlights are the Raw Bar, Sloppy Pigs (BBQ Pork sliders), Angus filet mignon, Sea Bass T-bone, Short Ribs Pot Roast, Salmon Wellington, Gourmet mashed potatoes, signature salads, Kettle (house cooked) potato chips, and so much more.

Join me for a night of comfort food and freindly conversation at Hartford's newest restaurant next to City Steam (which I used for the street address so the system will map it).

I will be there at 7:00 in the bar for drinks and appetizers before our seating (Dinner) time of 7:00pm. The reservation is under my name "BETSY".

Margaritas and Mexican Food in Northampton

It's time to travel North of the Border for Mexican food!

First, we will meet at Mama Iguanas at 7PM for Margaritas.
http://www.fundining.com/mama_iguanas.html

Mama Iguanas is the trendy Mexican place in town that supposedly has great Margaritas.
There we'll imbibe on Mexican elixirs, and the 57 varieties of Tequila.
No silly, you don't have to try them all!

Then at 8:30 precisely (or as precise as you can get after 57 different types of Tequila), we'll take a 2 minute stroll for the cheap, authentic Mexican food at La Veracruzana.
http://www.laveracruzana.com/

After that, if more is desired, Spoleto also has great Margaritas (they use lime juice, freshly squeezed for each drink), and yummy desserts.

This evening coincides with Northampton's Arts Night Out, so arrive early, if you want to check out a few galleries.

This venue was suggested by one of our members who said this was a very good Thai restaurant, and the few reviews I found all agreed. I think Thai food (especially peanut sauces and mango sticky rice) is great!

You can check out the menu at http://www.siamcuisine.net/

PLEASE ONLY RSVP "YES" IF YOU TRULY PLAN TO SHOW UP! I will accept "YES" RSVP's until November 5th. The reservation will be under BETSY - EDMG.

So join me at Siam Cuisine and we will "Thai" one on (if you hate puns, then please forgive me).

Another great suggestion from our member, Elizabeth. This restaurant looks like it just may have the best German food around! http://www.restaurantheidelberg.com/html/aboutus.html

I am scheduling this one on a weekend since it is far away. I would suggest carpooling. I am also looking for someone to organize (call ahead for a reservation and spot people as they arrive) since I am not sure if I can make it.
