I have been craving some savory Indian food. According to Connecticut Magazine, this restaurant is a must! I know that most of our dinners start at 7pm but I am starving by then. Hopefully, 6:30pm will work for some of you. If not, I can change it to 7pm. I've read some reviews for this place and it seems to be a favorite for many. I will call ahead for a reservation the day before the event and the table will be under my name. Organizer ~ Kelly

Thanks to our member, Kathe, we have another suggestion for a fun and interesting restaurant. This one is not necessarily "ethnic" but it sounds great so I had to post it. They serve all kinds of fondue stuff, seafood, etc. Check out their website at http://www.thebluepe arlnewhaven.com/ Kathe has volunteered to organize this one. Thanks, Kathe!

Oh my gosh! I ate here on September 22nd and was blown away! Fantastic food, terrific ambiance, and service with a smile! The prices are very affordable considering the decor and taste of the food. The sake is out of this world! Please check out the website and join us as we enjoy some of the best sushi I've ever tasted! The reservation is under Kelly. http://minghungcuisi ne.com/ P.S. I love the Snow Roll...apple, cream cheese, and smoked salmon all fried in tempura!

Thank you, Rajesh, for this suggestion! The Hartford Courant describes this cuisine as Brazilian and Portugese and the descriptions of the food sound delightful. Read their review at http://www.ctnow.com /dining/1360,0,78967 55.venue. The reservation is under Kelly. As with all events, please keep an eye on your RSVP. Our events usually fill up and I am keeping track of people who RSVP but then do not show up.

Thanks for the suggestion from our new member, Jean Paul. I've looked at the website for Claire's Corner Copia and it looks really neat. They have recipe books and you can buy their handmade granola! I will not be able to attend this event so I need a volunteer to call the restaurant ahead of time to reserve a table or arrive a little early to get a table together. http://www.clairesco rnercopia.com/index. html

I know that many of our members live/work near the New Haven area so here you go! This restaurant comes highly recommended by quite a few members as well as the Hartford Courant. Here is the review from the Courant: "Best Restaurants of New England Web Published: Jan. 2005 You know you're in for something exceptional when mainstream chefs and diners proclaim this as one of the top dining establishments in the city. A favorite of the Yale crowd, it surely is stylish, with faux-marble tables and black chairs in a front conservatory and dining room to the rear. A few elegant Thai artifacts and a courtly, well-spoken staff assure that this is no run-of-the-mill Thai restaurant. Original Thai cuisine is advertised. Start with chicken or beef satay, crispy spring rolls, hot and sour soup or the seafood salad, a concoction of shrimp, scallops and squid tossed with onions, peppers, tomatoes and herbs in lime juice. We like the sound of the tamarind duck, the salmon ginger and the pataya seafood, the last a mix of seafood with onions, baby corn, green peppers, snow peas, bean thread noodles and a spicy house sauce, served with fried rice. In a welcome variation from the norm, you can select your own vegetables, curries and pan-fried accompaniments from an exotic mix-and-match selection to go with your basic chicken, beef, pork, shrimp or tofu. This is interesting stuff and affordable, too." Annette will be the organizer for this event. Please email any questions/concerns to her. Thanks, Annette!

Typhoon has a great menu, great service, and is centrally located in Middletown. If you haven't eaten here, you're in for a real treat. Prices are reasonable and it has great atmosphere. It's also BYOB. Here's a link to the restaurant: Typhoon

Join us for dinner and then some wild karaoke at the Koy Bar and Lounge at Butterfly in West Harford. There is a great review on the Courant's website at http://www.ctnow.com /.... Meet for dinner first and then enjoy the entertainment. They have a happy hour from 4:30-7pm so feel free to drop by earlier. Not sure if I can get there by 4:30pm but I hope to arrive before 7pm. I went here a few weeks ago and had a blast! NickiJ has offered to organize this one since my son is not feeling well. I may be able to make it but I'm not sure right now. Nicki will be there at about 6pm to hang out a little early if anyone wants to join her. She has offered her cell phone in case anyone needs it...860-307-1550. Thanks, Nicki! P.S. On their website, it states that there is a $3 cover charge. When I went, they did not charge us but just be prepared that they might.

I have not had French food in such a long time so I thought I would post this dinner as soon as I had the chance. Here is a little description from the Hartford Courant: "Brix is a term used in measuring the sugar content of wine grapes at the time of harvest. This restaurant is one sweet find. The look is casually chic. The food is exciting: squid with more legs than a Rockette's kickline, a roasted rack of lamb so good you nibble the bones, osso bucco plated with falling-apart lushness, and duck breast annointed with honey and served with wild rice and roasted pear." Dinner entrees cost anywhere from $8.50 to $26.00. Again, please be mindful of your RSVPs. Our events are usually full so if you RSVP and do not attend, you most likely took the spot of someone else who wanted to go but couldn't.
