The Polish National Home was suggested by one of our members who said she goes there for lunch and it is always quite good. The Hartford Courant calls it the best kept secret in Hartford - large portions of good polish food for small prices.
Parking is plentiful in their own lot. It is an older building that doesn't look like a restaurant, but is a "Hidden Gem" according to Metromix. I don't know anything more about it.
Sounds like good food at good prices to me, and of course we will all find good company at our table to share the good times with. I will collect $1.00 from attendees who wish to contribute toward the costs of running this meetup.
Hope to see you there! - Betsy
As always, if you RSVP "YES" - PLEASE SHOW UP!! Anyone who changes their RSVP to "NO" from "YES" less than 48 hours before the dinner will be considered a NO SHOW, and 3 no-show's will automatically terminate you from our group.
I stopped in to check out the place for a future Birthday Party event location and decided to stay to talk to some of Betsy's group members. All are nice members.

The Tables were round which is good for conversation,
The food looked great and the dinners had a variety to choose from..
I thought the waitress was very nice, ,
all in all a good place with an old time decore..
I hear they have activities here on Sundays..
Why not support the local clubs, its a good idea. See if any more clubs offer dinners.
Might be a bit more difficult to get in an Italian Club but many restaurants are available too, Thanks for listing this place Betsy..

Large dining room, good sevice, good plain Polish food, lots of fun with the group!

"Unprepossessing" is a good word to describe the place, and not uncomplimentary, either. I'd call it "Polish without polish"; a huge, mostly empty and somewhat chilly room -- with a warm atmosphere and lively conversations across the table where we didn't have to shout to be heard, or read lips to comprehend. I like the place. The food was simple and honest and tasty.
