There's been a lot of discussion about doing something different, so this month we're going to do Cuban food in Somerville. I'm dying to find out how this place compares to the only other Cuban place I've been to, Cuban Pete's in Montclair. I've moved this dinner to Friday the 18th since several members said that would be a better date for them. We found a nice wine store on just down the street from here, and since Martino's is BYOB... ;-)

Okay, okay, so Splash isn't open anymore. You'd think they'd take down the sign out front, yeah know? Someone mentioned the same people own the Metro Grille in Flanders (they also own the Long Valley Pub and Brew which I've been to many of times). I've been meaning to go to the Metro Grille, so what say we do? And someone STILL has to remind me to take a picture!

I live just up the road from this wonderful restaurant and I haven't been there in years! Time to change that! For July we're going to be dining at the Glen Gardner Inn. If you've never been there, you will be surprised at the quality of the food. They have a great beer menu as well (or did when I was last there).

I've heard about this place for awhile, so what do you say we head over? Ted says it's great! And fancy! We guys are going to have to sport a coat and tie! Do I even own a tie, anyway, there's a piano lounge and the cocktails are excellent. Who else wants to come along?

Ted has been raving about this place almost since the first time I met him, so we're going to try it. It's a French restaurant located near Flanders. The menu looks awesome. Besides, I can't remember the last time I had French cooking. I'm really looking for ward to this meal. I hope you all are too!

As we discussed at last month's meeting, we'll be doing Turkish food at Kaptan's in Hackettstown in March. The food at the atmosphere here is very good. They have a belly-dancer on the weekends as well. This place is packed on the weekends, so reservations are necessary. I will be stop taking guests on Sunday, March 8th. Note that there is a limit to the number of people who can attend as well as a five dollar (5$) charge to RSVP. Refunds will be given only if the dinner is canceled, rescheduled or you RSVP "No" no less than five days before the event. So come on out for good food and some belly-dancing!

At our last dinner (at the Milford Oyster House), one of our new members (Hi, Gerri!) said this was her favorite Italian place in Central Jersey so we all thought it would be a good idea to check it out. I want to see how this place stacks up to Ono Rosa which is my favorite Italian place (conveniently located near me!). I was going to schedule this for a Saturday, but my only free Saturdays are Valentine's Day and the 28th. I didn't want to wait until the end of the month for another get together and I'm sure you all have dates for Valentine's Day. ;-) So who's in the mood for Italian food?

Welcome to a New Year of dining out and making new friends! I'd like to welcome all the new people to the group (you know who you are!) and encourage you to come out to our next dinner and let us know who you are! And speaking of the next dinner, new member Kim suggested we do the Millford Oyster House this month. I think it's a great idea to shake loose the cabin fever and share in seafood and camaraderie on a cold January night! So let's meet up there on Saturday, January 24th. This place requires reservations, so no "maybes" this time out; you're either in or you're not. I will also be closing the RSVP window the Monday before the dinner (that would be Monday the 19th).
