In an effort to make your Meetup experience as pleasant as possible, here's a quick, clear, and concise guide to the event organizer's policies:

The title of this Meetup Group is officially The NYC DINNER and a Movie Meetup Group.
We intend it to be a social group for people that enjoy seeing a movie and then discussing the movie and anything else that comes up during normal (or abnormal) dinner conversation.

1. As organizers, we have the reasonable expectation that members will schedule their time to not only see the movie but attend dinner afterwards. If you leave directly after the movie for any reason other than a medical emergency (i.e. coughing up a lung or bleeding out your eyeballs), you will probably be removed from the group at the organizers discretion.

"And if this is your first time with the NYC Dinner and a Movie, you MUST attend the dinner..."

2. RSVP's are vitally important to us for planning successful events. If you RSVP YES and fail to attend the event, you will be removed from the group. NO EXCEPTIONS! No-Show RSVP's can no longer be tolerated.

There are two reasons for this rule:

  • If the event is full, you are being rude and unfairly preventing someone else from attending.
  • As organizers, we need to have accurate attendance numbers for scheduling restaurants.

3. At dinner everyone pays for what they order. Restaurants normally refuse to provide separate checks for large groups which makes ATM/Debit cards, checks and credit cards an extremely onerous burden to accommodate and is a practice thoroughly frowned upon. So please, please, PLEASE CARRY CASH to pay for your meal!!!!

4. This is the saddest tale I can tell. We try to put out all the information we can to guide our members. This includes advisories to pre-purchase tickets through Fandango or Moviewatcher. Recently, we had five members that arrived at the theatre and did not heed our sage advice by buying tickets ahead of time. As much as it broke our hearts, we were forced to leave them all crying in the lobby while we enjoyed our popcorn and the movie. Please don't break our hearts! Heed our advisories and buy your tickets ahead of time!

We hope you understand and will abide by these rules. We truly enjoy hosting these events and look forward to seeing all of you in the future.

Sincerely
Alfredo
