A TRULY UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY

Thanks to Jill C. for finding this and offering to host.

Here's the scoop: The restaurant is called The Summit. It is located at the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincy State and is run by head chef Matt Winterrowd, a graduate of Midwest Culinary Institute. He has worked at Trio in Chicago and at Jean Robert at Pigall's, Boca and Daveed's here in Cincinnati. All other positions are held by the students at MCI. The menu will be seasonal so it will always be changing. The students will be encouraged to try new flavors and creative placings. They hope to have a current menu online in the next few weeks. The entree prices will be priced from $8- $29. It is an ala carte menu. They do have a liquor license but as of right now they are serving just beer and wine until they can put together a bar. I was told their wine list is fairly extensive and glasses run between $6 and $10. Bottles are also available if desired. They do accept all major credit cards and we will be able to have separate checks. They will have valet parking set up by then and I will forward to you the directions and where to go at Cincy State.

Should be an interesting and tasty night. Come join us!

    •  My first course, a salad of gnocchi, fava beans and goat cheese, was excellent. My main course was not as good as I expected. The risotto was not creamy and it had entirely too much parmesean cheese and oil on top. The dessert was fabulous, a lemon honey cake with lavender ice cream. Extremely tart with a creamy accent. The service was good for a large group, but there were several problems with the checks. Hopefully they will clear that up with time.
