Chinese Food Afficionado Meetup Group
|
The GTA now has a kizillion Chinese restaurants. While not too long ago it was hard to find anything besides bastardized Cantonese food, now there is everything from Shandong to XinJiang cuisine available. Do you love Chinese food and want to sample it all? Does it frustrate you when you can't try all the variety the menu offers when dining as a couple? Are you willing to travel accross the city in search of different tastes and cooking styles? Does restaurant decor (or lack there of) not pose a problem for you? Are you curious to learn more about the different styles of Chinese cuisine and are not afraid to try anything (and I mean anything) once? If you have answered yes, yes and yes - this is the meet up group for you. We sample a different style of cooking each month - and learn a little about the regional cusine. Groups will be kept to 8 to 10 in order for all participants to sit together at a round table. Each participant will choose one dish from the menu so we can all share. The food bill will be divided equally amongst everyone and you will take care of your own alcohol bill. We will keep the cost per meal in the $20 per person range.

Our next meeting:
Vegetarian Delights
Vegetarian food in the Chinese culture is usually associated with Buddhism. Today many Chinese enjoy vegetarian cusine from time to time, regardless if they are practicising Buddhists. Chinese vegetarian chefs have mastered the art of using "wheat gluten" (seitan) and soy products to make dishes that look and taste remarkably a lot like meat. Trust me, even hard core meat lovers will enjoy this meal!
