At popular request, we are going back to Cafe Kolos. located at 23623 104th Ave S.E. Kent Washington 98031; telephone number 253-852-1007. The members ate here last fall and had an exceptional experience. The food was really good and the service was outstanding. When I made the reservation, they remembered our group. There is not a web site so if any of our members that have eaten at this restuarant would share their experience with all the members, I think that will help describe some of the menu items. The prices are really good, actually inexpensive.

Hi all....I found a location for us to experience great Thai food. I checked out the restaurant and here is a run down on what I observed: Lots of parking in the back. The main door is also located in the back. As you walk in you will be greeted by wood carved elephants and Asian decor. I reserved the "Thai room" which is a raised area with canopy, curtains and four tables in the main dining area. These table are about a foot off the floor so we sit on cushions and our feet "dangle" in a pit under each table. Since we sit on cushions, there is no back support. Anyone who thinks this may be a problem can ask to sit at a regular table. Six people can sit at each table. There is a web site which provides a review of the menu, some pictures of the "Thai room" and directions to the restaurant. There were no prices listed so I snagged a Take Out menu, so here is a run down: appetizers, wraps and rolls: $8.95 to $11.95. satays, soup, salad: $8.95 to $16.95. Entrees: $10.95 to $12.95. Seafood entrees: $13.95 to $17.95. noodles, curry, rice: $9.95 to $16.95. specials: $11.95 to $24.95. The web site is: www.indochinefederal way.com If any one has eaten here, please give me a review of your experience. This looks like a great way to start the New Year. Hope to see you there!!!!

Happy Holidays! Dress up or dress down, but just come join us to kick off the holidays. UPDATE - 11/26/08
Due to the number of people that are now coming, the restaurant has had to move us from a semi-private area upstairs to the Oyster Bar downstairs. http://anthonys.com/ restaurants/info/des moines.html

Hey All....we're having Asian food for November!!! Going back to Mandarin Kitchen in Des Moines. For those of you that joined the group last time we ate here, you will remember how good the food and service is. For those of you who have never eaten there, here is an example of the food selections. Appetizers in price from $4.00 to $7.00...one of my favorites is Crab cheese puffs for $6.00. Five selections of soups for $6 to $7. I feel these are large servings. Ten selections in the "House Specialties" list ranging in price $10 to $17. One of my favorites is Dragon & Pheonix (filet mignon and prawns sauteed with mushrooms, onions, and zucchini) for $17.00....I love this one!! There is seafood, beef, pork and chicken selctions like Mango shrimp, Cashew chicken, Five Flavor Beef, Tiger pork. Also, six vegetable selections. In addition, there is the tradional Family style dinners. Mandarin Kitchen is located at 22612 7th Ave South, Des Moines, Washington 98198. Phone number is 206-878-8511. There is not a web site but with the ninty one menu items, everyone should find something you will enjoy. The parking lot is not very big but there is parking along the street. If 15 people or more RSVP yes we can get the banquet room. If we have ten or less, we will be sitted in the main dining room.

I tried this place and really enjoyed the food. There isn't a web site so here is a run down on the menu items! 13 appetizers ranging from $5.95 to $15.95. Mariachi's Mexican Favorites ranging from $10.95 to $14.95. Reginal foods ranging from $12.95 to $14.95. Soups, salads, enchiladas, and burritos under $10.00. Small combination dinners for $9.95 and large combinations for $11.95. There are some seafood specials that are a little higher in price. They serve beer, wine and cocktails, plus coffee, tea, soft drinks, ect. There is also burgers and steaks for those who don't like Mexican food. The restuarant is located on the East side of Pacific Highway in a "strip mall". Pacific Highway is under construction but there isn't a problem getting into the parking lot especially coming from the South. Looking forward to seeing you all there!!!!

Nothing like celebrating St. Patrick's Day with some good Shepard's Pie!!! So we are going Irish. Mick Kelly's is a very nice restaurant in the heart of Burien. Parking is good...based on the construction project across the street. Other wise, it's finding a spot on 152nd. They have a full bar for anyone wanting a drink. Also a pool table in the back, so if you play, bring your pool cue. They have a web site which post their menu with prices. www.mickkellysirishp ub.com Please check it out. I need all "Yes" confirmations by March 11th. Thanks... This is one of the few south end Irish "pubs" which has a nice restaurant atmosphere rather then the tavern atmosphere. This is the weekend before St.Patrick's Day. So here is an Irish Friendship wish to you all..... May there always be work for your hands to do... May your purse always hold a coin or two.... May the sun always shine on your windowpane... May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.... May the hand of a friend always be near you.... God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you...

Hi all!! I found a great little place that serves tradional Ukrainian food. Cafe Kolos is located on the East Hill of Kent. Lots of parking. The place just opened on the 19th. I stopped by and had some lunch and WOW!! the Chebureli and Bilyash was great! Also, tried KVAS, a tradional Ukrainian drink. This will be an exciting eating adventure. The prices range from $1.99 to $8.99. No liquor licence but standard drinks are available: Tea, coffee, soft drinks, juice, and KVAS and KOMPOT. There is no web site at this time, so here is a run down of there menu, just to get an idea of what an experience this will be! Appetizers: Chebureki ($3.50), Bilyash ($1.99), Deruni ($4.99), Langosh ($2.99). Soups and salads: Borshch ($3.99), Chinahi ($4.99), Meat soup ($2.99), Mushroom salad ($3.99), Carrot salad ($2.99), "Spring" salad ($2.50), "Olivye" salad ($3.99), "Autumn" salad ($2.99). Entrees: Cabbage wraps ($6.99), Pelmeni ($5.99), Vareniki/Pirogies ($5.99), Plow ($5.99), Potato pocket ($6.99), Goulash ($6.99), Schnitzel ($7.99), Hungarian meat ($7.99), Fish pollok ($6.99), Tzeplenok Tabaca ($8.99), Golden chicken ($6.99), Kotleta ($5.99). Desserts: Blinchiki ($3.50), Ukrainian cake ($2.50), ice cream ($1.99) Just to "wet your whistle" a little, this is the menu's description of a Vareniki/Pirogies: "hand made "pirogies" filled with mash potato served with bacon and fried onions and topped with butter and sour cream. Sweet "pirogies" filled with Ukrianian cheese." When I was at Cafe Kolos, Luda, the hostess said we could order "family" style, which is basically, ordering ahead of reservation time and every one sharing of the serving dish. If anyone is interested in eating family style let me know and I'll make sure we sit together and have the food ordered. Otherwise, we order off the menu when we get there. I think this will be a great eating adventure!!! Looking forward to seeing you all there.
