Details

Hey Fellow Foodies:

Our meet-up friends Marta and Pete highly recommend this place so this will be our May event. The same rules apply with all meet-ups that I myself post. Please send me your full name and contact number so I can include you in the count. The "Maybe" option will be turned off. More info will be posted as time goes by. This place sounds really good.....Hope to see you there....Lisa G.

"Feast" is the new restaurant run by English restaurateurs Richard Knight and James Silk, alongside James' wife Meagan - formerly proprietors of the highly successful Taverna Restaurant in Conroe.

Entrees are priced $14.95-$20.95.

"Feast is about bringing a traditional and relaxed European approach to dining to Downtown Houston. We will be offering simple, rustic cuisine in a relaxed, homely environment. Our emphasis will be on quality, local, seasonal ingredients prepared with passion and imagination.

Feast is informal, lively and different, serving great food and wine at prices reasonable enough to become a neighborhood "local" as well as a destination for a night out. We serve the traditional rustic cuisine of the continent on a rolling, ever changing menu which will evolve season by season. We feature organic meats, fresh fish and great vegetarian food. We offer familiar favorites alongside the more adventurous fare for which we have become known and will often feature dishes specifically designed to be shared.

"Our desire is to summon the spirit of a family meal shared around the kitchen table of an old-fashioned European family farm."

SEPARATE CHECKS:

Hey Fellow Foodies...thought I would forward this e-mail from one of the owner of "Feast" regarding the issue of separate checks. They are willing to accommodate us!

Please be definite in your reservation if you RSVP "Yes". I still want full names and contact numbers to guarantee no problems with "No Shows". I appreciate your participation and your company at all these events. Please read the following e-mail below:

Hi Lisa
Thanks for planning your event with us - we look forward to accommadating you and have you pencilled in for 25 people at 7pm on the 12th - let us know your exact numbers closer to the date and we will go from there. We know Marta and Pete well from our last restaurant and it's nice to know they speak well of us!
Our menu changes daily but we like to think that we always offer something for everyone!
We are very capable of splitting checks - we are very low-tech here which makes things much easier - the only confusion we ever get is in keeping track of wine when it is shared amongst people on different tickets and some are drinking more than others etc but i have no doubt this can be easily figured out - pen and paper is a much easier system to work this out with than any computer!
So let me know if you have any further questions and we look forward to seeing you on the 12th
Regards
James Silk

About "but missed having everyone at the same table" -- We also get the comment "too many people at one table to talk" so sometimes we'll do it one way, other times another (usually based on the size of the crowd and the needs of the restaurant). Everyone should feel free to roam from one table to the next.

I had some great table mates but missed having everyone at the same table. The atmosphere was nice as was the variety of menu choices but I agree with Lisa that the service was uneven. It was fun sharing the unique entrees with our table mates so we could at least taste what we didn't order for ourselves.

Sounds like great fun with a big crowd of dedicated foodies. Enjoy yourselves... I'll be taking my exam for the wine course I've been attending for the last 12 weeks.

"Great atmosphere. Lots of variety on the menu. Since I am not a risk taker on new foods, I didn't care for my particular choice which I thought was moderately safe. There were other dishes that were fine."

"Fantastic experience. I had the chocolate beef..... yup, sounds strange but was rather tasty. Highly recommend this experience."

"The food I got was delicious, but the service was a little lacking. We got to the restaurant first, but for some reason the other table got their food first. Loved visiting with the folks at our table. "

  • Lisa
    "Food was great!"

  • David
"The group of people at our table had mixed reviews regarding the fare. Fortunately, I ordered one of their better dishes. Of the seven dishes served at our table, three were very good, one about average and three were not acceptable."

  • David Richards
"My first meet up with this group: 1. The people are great (hence the Good rating). 2. The restaurant should be flattened for much needed parking space (hence one off a Great rating)."
